Girls Incorporated of Metropolitan Dallas
Making Girls Strong, Smart and Bold

Tiphanie Sanders

"As a young girl growing up in Girls Inc., I received stability and security through the after-school programs. In Girls Inc., I had a support system and a safe haven that gave me guidance in making positive life choices."

Tiphanie Sanders,
Girls Inc. Alumni

Tiphanie Sanders was a Girls Inc. member from the age of six until she was 18. Girls Inc. provided her with opportunities she never would have had, such as participation in a science/math/technology summer program. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a major in Mass Communication and a minor in Social Work, and completed her Masters degree in School Counseling in 2007. Tiphanie has recently started her career as a Child Protective Services (CPS) Investigator for the state of Texas and is now an Investigator Supervisor.

Shorma Bianca Bailey joined the South Dallas Center at the age of eight. The oldest of seven children, she was only two when she lost her mother, and for a time, lived with her father and siblings at the Dallas Life Foundation Homeless Shelter.

Shorma has just completed her freshman year at Howard University, majoring in Chemical Engineering and is a student in the Science, Engineering and Math Program. She joined Howard students on spring break in New Orleans, helping victims of Hurricane Katrina more than two years after the disaster, helping reconstruct homes, repair structures, and tutor students. Shorma performed in the Howard University Showtime Marching Band in Bermuda and participates in the Howard University Symphonic Concert Band.
