HOME GROWN PHILANTHROPY
Many of us dream of hitting the jackpot as we plan out what we are going to do with our windfall.   Giving to charity is often at the top of our list.  We dream these things because the good in us wants to make sure that the less fortunate receive some of our blessings.  The problem is, we may never win the lottery… we may never get the unexpected call that Great Uncle Luscious was unknowingly loaded and you are the sole beneficiary of his will.

Key to this dream is that our philanthropy, though well meaning, comes from excesses that you neverGail Warrior had before.  But what is true philanthropy?  It’s the giving to others for the good of those that are less fortunate, using our personal resources that may, or may not, be currently accounted for.  That is why Heart of a Warrior Charitable Foundation (HOAW) exists today.  We exist because of a vision created by Gail and Wayne and carried out by the employees of Warrior Group, our principal benefactor and staunch supporter.   Through the generosity of Warrior Group the Foundation can embark on our mission to connect with, partner with and support other organizations that are making a real difference in the community, on behalf of underserved children.

As Executive Director, I can speak for HOAW Foundation and HOAW Board to say -- Thank You.  Thanks for caring about the underserved, so that children who may feel like they have no hope today, can one day dream of their own philanthropy.   They may simply call it “giving back” but it is really true, grass roots philanthropy.  The spirit of giving is crucial to having a healthy world village.   Well, wouldn’t it be great if we all found ways to “give back” like Warrior Group and its employees are currently practicing.

From HOAW Foundation, thanks to Warrior Group for all that you do, so that we can do more.

Wendell Hall
Executive Director
